Thank you for your wonderful outlook.

Post How can I forgive? How can I just let it go?

A member asked for some scriptures to help them forgive. I know it is very hard to forgive, sounds like they have been walking in my shoes. Here is a little of what the word says about forgiveness:
Romans 13:8
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

John 13:34
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Matthew 5: 23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

The most common quoted scripture about forgiveness is in the Lords Prayer:
Luke 11:
4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

I always try to remember that if I want Jesus and the Father to forgive my sins then I must first forgive others. The measure to which I forgive others is the measure to which I will be forgiven.

If anyone has some more scriptures supporting this please add them, as we all need help in learning how to forgive and let go of past hurts. I know it is hard, but Jesus would not ask us to do something that we could not do. We need the love of God in our hearts, to share this forgiveness and love with others.

I thought of this scripture on forgiveness:

Matthew 6:14-15: "For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions. "

We all want our Lord to forgive us, don't we?
In order for us to receive forgiveness from our Lord, we MUST forgive others. We must forgive whether the person has asked for forgiveness or not. We need to remember, forgiveness isn't something we need to "feel" like doing, or else not too many of us would forgive.
You might think to yourself, how can I forgive someone if I don't "feel' forgiveness for them?
Obeying the Word of God is never subjective (we don't obey because we feel like it). It is always objective. We obey because God tells us to. I have never felt like forgiving someone who has wronged me, or said a hurtful word to me, but I do it anyway because I know that it is required of me and I always want my Father to forgive me.
Unforgiveness, no matter how right you think you are, will always lead to bitterness. And again, the Word of God says, "See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled; " Heb. 12:15

Dougly,

I can sure identify with you!! 2Cor.4:17-18 is one of my choicest scriptures I hold on too:
"For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. "
This disease has brought me to a closer relationship with Jesus that I would not give up for healthy flesh!!
This light affliction in this earthen vessel is only momentary. I am looking forward to eternity with Jesus, when I will be completely whole.
I look forward to seeing you, Dougly, on the other side!!

The Cure for Anxiety

Mathew 6:25 “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
26 “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
27 “And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
28 “And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,
29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
30 “But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!
31 “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’
32 “For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Thumbs up Good encouraging words

Thanks Joel, I really like that.

I love this scripture,

Psalm 37:25
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

That is great Al, I love the following verses to that Psalm as well.

Psalm 37:27 Depart from evil, and do good, So you will abide forever.
28 For the LORD loves justice, And does not forsake His godly ones; They are preserved forever; But the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.
29 The righteous will inherit the land, And dwell in it forever.

Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me away from Thy presence, And do not take Thy Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of Thy salvation, And sustain me with a willing spirit.

Prayer and the Golden Rule

Mattew 7:7-12

7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
8 “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
9 “Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone?
10 “Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?
11 “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!
12 “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
