Default Question about leg weakness

My left leg has been weak for a long time. But, after being in the hospital for almost a week with blood clots, now my right leg and foot are MUCH weaker. Can progression happen so fast or could it be from just being flat on my back for almost a week? I was able to drive before because being fairly strong and flexible in my right leg. Would not even dream of trying it now!

I really don't know the answer to that, but I'm so terribly sorry you have this going on. I'm sure you will get some answers to your question.

Driving oneself is a huge part of independence, I know. I'm glad however you are not going to try it anytime soon!

Default Re: Question about leg weakness

It could be either but suspect it is some of both. There was a very old study where they put healthy students on total bed rest for 24 hours and found they had a temporary but measurable loss of strength.
However, we know from multiple patient reports that illnes or injury can hasten progression too.
Sorry
