In April of 2014 the Center for Medicare Services changed their rules concerning Speech Generating Devices. In essence the change states that SGD's could only be used for speech even if that device was internet capable. I got my device in July 2014 but because of this law Medicare would not unlock my device to the Internet. This law just did not effect me but hundreds of people who rely on these devices. Not just to communicate with someone in the room but a whole world. After more than a year and literally an Act of Congress (The Steve Gleason Act) was signed a month ago. Our devices can now be unlocked to use the Internet. TODAY I GOT UNLOCKED. Victory
