Chasing Midnight

As the day ends waiting for sleep to come.
I reflect on the moments of my day.
Small victories, small losses.

Times yet to come, times past.
Having no regrets of what might have been.
New memories yet to come.

Though I have lost much.
I have gained more.
I have found words that were always there, but never expressed.

Those who have fought before me and now are gone.
Their strength and spirit lives on.
A battle yet to be won.

We are not alone, we are one soul.
Our lives entwined by a single purpose.
An endless fluid of motion, life and living.

Poets, Dreamers, Artists.
Masters of nothing.
But still ours to believe.

Patrick

Wow. Thank you, Patrick.
God bless, Janelle x

Patrick have you published? You should... Maybe you could do something with your ALSA or clinic as a fundraiser? Your words are so beautiful

What positive, uplifting words! Thank you for sharing.

Patrick I agree with nikki. A collection of your works would be a beautiful thing.

I just love your poems Patrick. They are just beautiful. Let me know if you ever publish a book. I definitely would want to get one. Thanks again for sharing with us. Kim

Thank you, Patrick!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts in poem form with us once again...I'm touched by this message!

Patrick you and Tim have more than one thing in common. Here is a poem he wrote many years ago, and reading it now makes me wonder.

Thoughts...

Does pain a better poet make?-
Can joy be source of rhyme?-
Or does the hurting heart still take
Its words from wells as deep as time?

Does pain a better person make?-
Can joy be source of strength?-
Or does the hurting heart still take
Its pain to form a wall, at length?

Paulette that is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
I was 12 when Tim wrote that. At the time I probably would have thought 'whaaaaat?'
But now, at 42, and the 'thing' that has a grip on me is probably the main constant in my life, I think.....wow.
That is such a beautiful, beautiful poem. I am in awe of people like Tim and Patrick.
To put words together with such eloquence and meaning...one thing that cannot be taken from them.
God bless, Janelle x

I write to share the moments of my life. ALS takes so much from our lives. But it can't take what is inside of us all.

Amen to that.
