Dear All,

what are your experiences with Mucodyne? We have introduced it lately, due to persistent struggle with mucus plug (basically a killer if not shifted). The result is thinner saliva but too much of it pooling in the mouth, and choking L. He is on 10ml of syrup 3 times per day.

Hi Dani

Mick has been on this for some time now (over 12 months) and is on the maximum of 20ml 3 times a day and it is meant to thin out the mucus and saliva and when he doesn't take it there is a significant difference, maybe they just need to get the dosage right for L so its not too thin, but i know Mick cannot do with out it now, along with plenty of fluids as it all helps keep the mucus thinner and easier to get up. Maybe a suction machine could help with the pooling saliva too, hope that helps. Ang

Thank you. Reduced it but needed to be increased again. At least sticky mucus is no longer there. D

Is that over-the-counter or do you need a prescription to get it?

Thanks.

Hi Nighthawk
It's generic name is Carbocisteine (Mucodyne) it is on prescription only as far as I'm aware.
