My husband's legs are almost impossible to bend most of the time. Even when they are bent slightly to get them to go back toward the chair he is sitting in can use up all of the caregivers strength. Is this normal at this stage of ALS, he cannot walk at all or stand alone, little/no use of arms - diagnosed 8mths ago - fist symptoms 2 years ago.

He also rarely sleeps more than 2 hours at a time, mostly 25 minutes is the usual.

That is probably the spasticity in his legs--my husband is th same way espeically in the morning when he is stiffer. Does he take baclofen for spacticity?

Yes, 3 times daily for the Baclofen. Does your husband sleep well?

Is he having any breathing trouble? Or is pain keeping him from sleep? There are a lot of reasons for not sleeping--and it can normally be helped if the cause is found.
