Looking for ALS specialist or at least Neuromuscular specialist in Austin

Hello all,

My husband's initial diagnosis was made in Austin and confirmed by an amazing Neuro in Boston. The clinical trials we will participate in will be in either San Antonio or Houston, but we need someone here in Austin as well. For many reasons, we will not be returning to the Neuro here in Austin. Any suggestions out there, friends?

Have you checked with the Austin Neurological Institute? Sorry, I'm not much help! The ALSA might know of a neuro in your area that has knowledge of ALS.

Years ago, my husband saw a lady neurologist named Sara Austin. She was excellent and very thorough. She diagnosed him with PLS but arranged for a second opinion. His diagnosis was later changed to ALS, but doctors do believe he is one of the few documented cases where PLS changed to ALS. Dr. Austin moved from Houston to Austin. We hated to see her go. I just googled her and found her info. She is Sara G Austin with the Austin Neurological Clinic 711 West 38th Street F-1 Austin, TX 78705 1-800-628-7365.

At the time we were seeing her she was a general neurologist and did not specialize in just ALS.

The MDA has a clinic listed for Round Rock. I am not sure if this is a general clinic or they have an ALS specialist. Their contact info is Health Care Services Coordinator

Someone just diagnosed actually moved back to Austin from FL to find a better doc--so check over there--I'm sorry, i can't find the post again, but am in mega pain today and can't concentrate.
