I'm getting my PEG tube tomorrow morning. I'm still swallowing just fine, the problem is that my breathing is declining, and so the procedure becomes riskier if this is put off too much longer.

Wish me luck, and send your prayers. I know this is a relatively minor procedure. But I've been here long enough to have read all the horror stories like BethU's, and I know it's sometimes painful for a few days. Then again, some cases go very smoothly. I want to be part of the latter club.

My husband got his last summer for the same reason. He has just started using it for medications. If you have ANYTHING that seems a bit off, come to the forum. Someone will be around to answer your question. That's how we found out that the stop on my husband's was too tight and causing pain - a quick fix! I'll be thinking about you and wishing you well!

GOOD LUCK! Don't put up with any BS! Please let us know how it goes!

Good luck and best wishes. Please share details as you feel appropriate./thanks

Good luck. Of all the things Eric has had done, the PEG was easy. Hopefully things will go the same for you. It sure makes it nice not to have to worry about choking when the time comes.

Good luck! I'll be praying for fast healing and little pain.

Hugs

Let us know Tom, I want my husband to consider going ahead with getting one since he chokes on every meal.

Good luck Tom. Someone on the forum told me to ask for medication that reduces cramps when getting a peg. i will be gettting a peg pretty soon, after I see my lung specialist. Praying for a smooth surgeryf and little pain and NO complications.

Good luck Tom! Sending good thoughts your way.

Hi Tom,
My husband had his peg on 4/19 of this year. He has done very well. The procedure only took 20 minutes and no problems with healing. He also adapted to the first formula prescribed and has gained 4 pounds.

I so hope everything goes as well for you. David and I will say a prayer for you tonight. Bev

Praying for you Tom. I am supposed to be getting mine soon. I hope your procedure is pain and complication free.
Blessings,

Linda

Best of luck Tom, hope all goes smoothly and you make an uneventful recovery.

I too hope you'll be in the latter category Tom. Praying for a smooth procedure and recovery. All the best.
