Hi, i have been told almost 2 years ago that i have motor neuron disease by a neurologist.
This news was given to me after i was actually being seen for a wcb claim about my hand not working. After tests of emg, and physical i was told this. i was given a spinal tap too but i never got back to the neurologist office to see the results. it all happened so fast i thought they were lying to me to get out of the wcb at first but realized they were true.
my concern as of now is that i really find it hard to walk because my right foot is shut down and my legs get tired quickly and my calves are sore and they cramp up every day. my right hand is shut down too and every night my hands go numb and sometimes my feet get tingley. i am fatigued all day long. oh, also on a sepperate time 1-2 months later i hate a cat scan and it showed that i have lesions around my brain caused by trauma.
So..my question that i am asking is this a usual beginning stag for als or should i think its something like ms.

I would investigate the lesions in your CAT Scan, take it to an MS Specialist to see what they think. If nothing else you have ruled out MS, or you have MS and there is medication that can help.

ok, thankyou for that. i'll get my files from my old clinic to my new doctor and see what happens. i hope it doesn't take too long to get to see the specialist. oh well.

Good luck Christopher!

Yes get those lesions checked out espcially because your initial signs you stated above could coincide for either MS or ALS. Not that MS is much better, but I hope you find an alternate diagnoses! Best of luck!

Definitely see a specialist to get a second opinion on the ALS diagnosis--especially in light of the abnormal CT scan. I'd think they would do a Brain and Spinal MRI to rule out MS--also get the results of the lumbar puncture they did.

I'd try to see an ALS specialist--perhaps the first diagnosis based on just your hand EMG was wrong?

Best of luck to you. AT least MS is treatable! Good luck to you
