After several months of seeing docs, even being told that I had a mass in my chest showing up in my MRI, which ended up being normal lymph nodes confirmed by further testing. I was diagnosed with ALS yesterday. My emg showed several bad areas in my arm, leg, back and even my tongue. I found a great doc who was very thourough with her exam and was easy to talk to. What a plus! This past month I have had new symptoms of cramping to several areas, including changes in my voice, where I have lost my normal pitch.
I feel this is a great site for support. I have to admit though. I have limited my comments until confirmation of my diagnosed due to other Pals being what I thought was pretty harsh comments to some new comers visiting this site for some inquiries of their own scary symptoms. I felt they should have not said anything being they did not offer any support to the individual, that I could see. Anyways, God be with us all. My thoughts and prayers are for all of us, whether we have ALS or even suspect it.

Hi Arthur, just an empathetic note. I got a preliminary diagnosed on September 20 and just last week got my second opinion from an excellent Dr at the Lahey Clinic confirming the diagnosed. Now, as I am sure you are, I am trying to re-order my life while keeping up some semblance of normalcy in work and other pursuits.
I pray for slow progression for all of us, and even more, for the ability to find joy every day. Of course I am fearful of what is down the road, but working on "being present in the present."
all the best,
Sue
