I want a refund. NONE of those delicious male nurses were there. Nothing like!

But a sweet man came to measure and fit bipap for me. HE went down to the cafe and bought me a coffee and brought it up to me; I HATED the bipap first night. He had left two masks but I chose the mouth and nose one but HOW it left a cold lump in my chest and HOW it dried my mouth. I thought so much of you all , my friends. It was you who got me through the night!
Anyway, I reported this and so he came with a new one with nebuliser of warm water, SO much more comfortable.
I asked him about trachs and he said that now they could do them tiny enough to leave vocal chords intact. Good news, no?
He gets to call at my house to keep tags on me.
I had swallowing and speech tests in depth.
My mouth is not doing various things it should be, which causes my difficulties. I never realised eating was SO complicated. BTW I thought my profile on the Xray was quite pretty - good bone structure, but did not care much for the full face;-)
SO speech, breathing and ALS specialists are now all in touch and will be keeping that way to do their best for me. It is wonderful!

I went downstairs to the café just once. Did NOT fall down! While I was reading my magazines and drinking my illicit coffee, I noticed people looking at me. Then a lady got up from a table and came and said, "we were just saying what amazing eyes you have and how pretty you are!" so that cheered me up a lot. (vanity, vanity, all is vanity! But it is so silly) Then ANOTHER lady came over to me and asked what was wrong with me, which ward and room I was in. She announced herself a healer who wanted to help me. I told the nurses about her when I went back and I think, if she did turn up, they must have blocked her as they were not happy at all!

I just love the way French specialists get stuck and help, not a bit like English surgeons, who seem to think they are God. They work huge long hours, hands on. I asked about going down to the cafe and the specialist went and made me one herself to save me going down! IMagine that in UK§ NEver!

Anyway, I shall write a blog if I can make time in my busy schedule here in bed to tell you the more intimate and detailed thoughts.
But I promise you, you were all there with me, holding my hands in the bad bits, like when the swallowing expert put the camera down my nose to watch me swallowing.......... What a baby I am becoming!
Lots and lots and lots of love

Awwww, not a baby at all. Cameras don't belong in and down noses! It is wonderful you had such good treatment. Very good the bipap seems to be comfortable...and really kind people to help you. Yeah!
Love you much.

I am soul glad that you are home safe and sound! xo Maybe your Male Nurses got delayed as it was a International FLIGHT?! Did they also give you the nasal pillows to use with the BiPAP? Did they give you home suction? Web is using his cough assist morning and night and then has to use the suction and it helps :] Did they say anything about the feeding tube?

French medical care sounds like CARE. Of course you are beautiful :] We were there! We are there! We love you all the way to France and back. xoxoxo

So what is on your agenda for the weekend? It is pouring rain on the Prairie this morning. Huge black clouds and booms of thunder as lightning streaks across the sky. This is High School Graduation weekend and most of the parties were planned for outside...It is also my Daddy's 85th Birthday so I suppose I should get off my behinney and back him a cheesecake. Still no grandbaby boy :[ I told Jennifer that he was waiting for the 22nd so he could share his birthday with his Great Grandfather and namesake!

I can't wait to read your blog. Will it be here or on facebook? xoxoxo

Oh yes, I cant wait to read that blog either! Iris Marie, I am so glad you were treated with the TLC you deserve! Wow, quite the journey of bad doctors to finally get there, but in the end the heavens opened up and noticed what a
S-P-E-C-T-A-C-U-L-A-R woman you really and truly are! I am so grateful!
Hugs! Kari

Oh Iris if you are a baby I am right there along with you? Who likes to be probbed and poked all over and strange things put in our nose? Not me .... I am getting ready to leave when Rich gets home so I will be on later. Sending lots of love and hugs your way today.. Linda

irismarie, you are amazing---of course you are beautiful, people see your glow and know you are special. Viva la French!

Irismarie you are my heroine! I do know what you mean about the bipap, I am just now getting used to sleeping with the damn thing hanging off my face and you really do need the humidifier.

Both of my swallowing studies have involved swallowing some barium stuff which shows up on xray video and I can't imagine ho uncomfortable it must be to have a camera down your nose!

Glad that you had such good care and are home safely.

Barry

Iris Marie,
{HUGS} Thinking of you!

Glad you are home safe and sound!

I am glad you home and enveloped in your lovely garden. You are beautiful inside and out, dear IrisMarie. I am sending thoughts of rest and peace to you and am anxiously awaiting more stories!

Welcome back! I am so glad things went well for you. Interesting about the bipap. I feel certain that my husband will be put on one after the visit to the pulmonologist. He's had a cpap for years, so maybe the transition won't be so hard. He will hate a camera in his nose, though! You certainly aren't a baby!

Welcome home, You know that the gorgeous nurses were just too much in awe of your beauty to show their faces!

Welcome Home.... Guess I am a bit late in my greeting, but it is still heartfelt! You are such a delight and indeed a beautiful lady both inside and out - I believe you probably were the best patient that hospital ever had.... Hugs from the Hills where it is a rainy morning. Diane
