How low can your breathing number go and have the bi-pap still be effective? Last time I went to Wake Forest clinic(about 3 weeks ago) my FVC was 26% and am still using the bi-pap but can go 6-7 hours without it if I am out. I use nasal pads some of the time but feel that they leak, so I use the full face mask at night now. Anyone have any input on this?

That pretty well describes my bipap usage. I wear it all night .
8am rise and start the day with the 3s's and then my home care lady cooks me a big breakfast.
I take a nap from 2 to 4 pm with mask on.

I have been wondering the same thing. My husband's fvc was 20% mid-February and he uses bipap at night (about 10 hours) and very little (sometimes not at all) during the day. He never naps. How long can this go on? Everyone seems so different. I did read that by fvc 15% bipap is needed 24/7.

I am using mine[bipap] with ox about 5 hours a night and then I use it in the afternoon for an hour or so.... I am in my 20's also. I guess time will tell, just like with everything it is waiting game? L
