Most books stress the importance of symbolic ritual to express feelings. Some of the things that might be helpful are drawing, sculpting and of course journaling.
I still don't have a grave marker picked out and can't decide what to put on it. I have such pain in my heart about the way my SIL treated me that I wanted a real STATEMENT, but it would be lost on her empty brain and that's not what it should be about. Anyway, in researching this I came across the tradition of placing stones on the markers of loved ones that passed. I thought that was awesome and came up with an idea. I think I will buy some smooth river stone and we will paint what ever we feel at the time and leave the special stone whenever we visit. Perhaps that will be therapeutic for the both of us.
