It's based on a book called "You're Not You," which I hadn't heard of (anyone read it?)

Big win for ALS awareness to have a huge star like Hilary Swank involved.

I hadn't heard of it before so I googled it. The author is Michelle Wildgen and I believe it is one of her first novels and was written in 2006.

Hilary Swank is an amazing actress. I have no doubt she will give a fantastic performance and truely bring dignity, grace and a strong, heartfelt awareness to this dreadful illness.

I read the book. I liked it. I think. Honestly it made me very very very sad. Maybe because of the truth in it.
