The new movie "Ted," by Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane, has a "joke" about ALS. Ugh. My brother, who was recently diagnosed with ALS, went to see the movie the other day with some work buddies. It sounds like it was an awkward, uncomfortable, hurtful situation.
My bro and I both like Family Guy and its politically incorrect, offensive humor. But that's the thing about that type of humor: it's funny .... until it's not. And some of the jokes I've found funny on that show, other people have probably found offensive and hurtful.
It's really gotten me thinking. Here's a story about how some people are (understandably) upset about the joke in "Ted."
'Ted' Punch Line Offends People With Lou Gehrig's Disease
Any thoughts? Are people offended by this? Don't care? I'm curious.
