Yep. I also have double foot drop and find AFOs useful. They keep your toes from dragging, help minimize risk of getting a contracture in the foot drop position (otherwise known as an equinous contracture because it resembles a horse hoof), and also keeps ankle from twisting from side to side when you walk. I'm also considering the use of a soft over-the-counter AFO for night time and lounging use to help minimize the contracture risk -- I found some on Amazon. I know some other people with foot drops who are wheelchair-dependent but still wear their AFOs to avoid contracture sand assist with transferring.
