Hi everyone. I have not been to my first ALS Clinic visit, its next Thursday July 20th @ Stony Brook University. I am surprised and nervous at how quickly by annoying foot drop and progressed to where I am at the moment. I am still able to drive and can get around as long as I am walking with someone to balance me. In the past 2 days I have had this very quiet cough, almost like being out of breath when talking. I have tried to search on it to see if it might be an ALS symptom? I did just have double pink eye infections which healed with drops so not sure if is something from a cold - but it is not at all in my chest, just my throat.

Has anyone every experienced this?

It could be laryngospasms so get that checked at your clinic visit.

You can search that term here and see it discussed to get a better idea of what others have experienced. Your doctor will be able to confirm it better of course by seeing you. I hope the clinic visit gives you a lot of forward moving strategies.

It could also be that your tidal volume is reduced. Make sure they do PFTs at the clinic.
