Hi everyone,

I just posted my story on "newly diagnosed ".

I am wondering if anyone has tried Neudexta and
If so, what has your experience been?

I currently am taking Rilutek and Zoloft.
My neurologist prescribed the Neudexta
(for speech and swallowing issues),
but with hesitation due to the possible
interaction with Zoloft. I did an EKG
which was fine.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

You're all amazing!

PALS have been reporting for a long time that nuedexta helped swallow and speech at least for a while. A recent clinical study confirmed this. You can find reports here of positive experiences.

Because of the Zoloft, you have a higher though still small risk of serotonin syndrome esp. in first few days of combining w/ Nuedexta. So just be alert for symptoms as described on the label, and never add a 3rd drug that affects serotonin levels (including but not limited to certain other antidepressants, muscle relaxants, antiseizure meds, triptans for migraine).

I had trouble swallowing the pills they were too large

Hi...
Just a note re the pills being large, and difficult to swallow...
I certainly understand as my major symptoms exhibiting of ALS are bulbar.
I can no longer take ANY beverage or food by mouth.
I was very fortunate, the Nuedexta was made available to me in capsule form, and I am able to
open up the capsule, pour the med into a small med cup, dissolve it
in water, and take it through my feeding tube.
I just wanted to let all for whom this may be an issue know that this capsule form does exist.
My empathy and warm thoughts to all of you.
Sincerely,
Laura.

I have not yet been taking it long enough to feel that I can give a responsible
report as to my total experience with it, or to summarize my thoughts on it.

Nudexta has helped me quite a bit. I was not myself, of course I was newly diagnosed with Blulbar Palsy, dealing with the news and my family, But I would cry at commercials and truly unnecessary nothings to cry about. I was almost a constant blubbering mess. I realized one day this was not who I am & decided to try my Rx. Within 3 days I felt like I was as back to my as normal under the circumstances. The tears dried up, wish it would help with the drooling! Hahaha
