Caregivers of veterans with ALS are welcome to join a community of military/veteran caregivers.

The Elizabeth Dole Foundation was created to assist and support military/veteran caregivers. "Our nation’s military caregivers need and deserve robust, effective support in light of the mental, physical, and financial challenges they face every day."

The Foundation has a closed Facebook page for the military/veteran caregivers for them to share experiences with one another, and provide support. They often help each other think through issues, particularly as it relates to the VA. They welcome pre and post 9/11 caregivers, and do not draw a line as to whether or not the caregivers veteran was combat wounded or not. A caregiver of a veteran with a service connected disability, such as ALS, is welcome.

Those who are interested in joining the Facebook page can private message me their email address and I will send an invite. The invite is approved by the administrator, however, before the invitee is approved they will need to submit via email a copy of your veteran's DD214 with SSN or other sensitive information blacked out.
