Thumbs up I'll see you on the other side dad.

My Sister and I lost our father on November 5th 2008 to ALS, he was 52 years old. It has been a rough year and we miss him. He was a fighter he was diagnosed in April of 2003 and he fought on and lived life. My family and I are having trouble getting on with life. The general public isn't educated about ALS. The people around us are kind of telling us to get on with our lives..They don't realize how emotionally draining the process is ..as active caretakers we miss him dearly and it is still gonna take time to get back on track..but I wouldn't have it any other way having my father home and being able to spend all the time I could with him. I hope everyone that is fighting this battle head on or on the sidelines, I hope yours find peace and stability.

Its awful i know, and i just hope we all see our loved ones on the other side and have a big party, the emptyness is something i have never felt, dads are brilliant, and its not fair, i cant say, "time heals"or "stay strong", because people are saying it to me and it doesnt help, my dad passed awayn on Oct 20th 2009, he was diagnosed in Feb, he withered away in front of us, if i could of taken his place i would of, i cant type at the moment, yet again im sobbing like a baby... look after yourself, your dad would want you too.
Karen.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Eventually you will remember him before this horrible disease and just remember the happy memories you had. It will slowly get easier. Take care of yourself.
