My spouse was diagnosed with ALS in September 2010. He passed away February 2012. I cannot say he suffered, but I can say it took a man's man and stripped him of all dignity. Although we laughed and loved right to the end, it was still the saddest thing I have ever gone through in my life. What is sad is the fact that they are aware of everything right until the very end. They do not lose the ability to comprehend their situation. My hubby communicated "I am dying" to me at 5:30 a.m. Wed, and by 1:03 a.m. Thurs He was gone. He acknowledged us with slight sounds during that entire time, as we kept him comfortable with atavan and morphine, so he did not panic and struggle to breathe. I will forever miss my soulmate, but am comforted by the very fact that he is with his mother in heaven. I will live to honor his memory and our love. Although we were only married a little over a year, we were together well over seven years....the best years of my life. Rest in peace h
Sweetheart, I love you now, and I will love you forever!
