Hi Rose. In one of your posts you mentioned being seen by ALS Clinic. My husband had dx of PLS just this past January and his neuro has turned him over to the ALS Clinic at Johns Hopkins (appt next month). I am a bit anxious for this appointment even though an EMG in September was clean, but that was performed by yet another doctor. How long have you been going to an ALS clinic? (PS - I also live in MD)

I have given my dad a lot of kisses on the forehead... lots and lots of them. He is being kept sedated but he is awake for brief periods so we cram all our love into those moments.

Wow Ernie has it bad for you! What a little lovebug. He thinks he's your boyfriend but it sounds like you are doing everything right. I am sure he'll come around. One thing I have always done is bring Chico for a walk just before I leave. I try to tire him out a lot so he just naps. The more energy you drain out of him before he's left alone, or in Ernie's case without you, the better off he'll be. I wish I could give that Ernie a little scratch behind the ears. He is such a cutie.

Diane, I'm hooking a dog rug, using only leftover strips (we call them worms), and this dog, who was supposed to be a yellow lab...that's what the antique rug had... reminds me of your little pictures of Ernie. Of course, Ernie is growing up and may be a different looking "big boy". I'll send you a picture when the rug's finished. (my dog has a tail. Does Ernie, or did he "lose" his?)

Do you say good-bye to Ernie when you leave the house? Try leaving and coming back without saying anything to him and don't make eye contact when you first arrive. Welcoming a dog with loud exclamations of love reinforces the separation anxiety as does making a big deal of the fact that you are leaving the house. Schnoodles are very smart and easy to train so I am sure that you will have this problem fixed fast enough. xo

Does Ernie still cry if someone else is still in the house with him? I hope that the Prozac helps. The holiday was great. I had to go to the orchid house for you. How are your's doing?
