Thank you for your good wishes, Jeff. I'll let you know. The more prayers we can surround each other with the better. I am lucky having a lot of support from my church group. Hugs, Joan

Dear Jeff, it is okay...You have such a sweet spirit and a heart of gold. Through all the changes my husband never complained. He would grin when we couldn't understand him, except one time I had to ask him to repeat himself about 3 times - he just told me he wasn't going to talk to me anymore, which was funny to us in a weird kind of way. The PALS & CALS just amaze me, especially the humor. I am just in awe of everyone. I have to tell you this, one day about a year ago, while I was at work, my husband got in his van and drove to Walmart (we had taken the keys away from him due to the dementia). Without being able to talk very well, convinced the mechanic to put a new tire on and some other work. That day cost me $200. He started the van with a knife - how about that for someone with ALS and FTD! Dear Jeff, we cry out for each other - we are family...God has indeed given me strength when I didn't know where any would come from. We will pray for each other. Judy

    Jeff,
I believe that God/Christ comes to ALL who seek Him...Jesus says "My father's house has many rooms. I go so that I may prepare A place for you." There are Christians who accept Christ as their savior AND take the bible "interpretatively", not literally. Your message of love and forgiveness and compassion are the lessons of Christ. Don't let anyone sway you differently!!
    Peace,
    Melody

Hi Jeff, I hope I get the message to you this time...yes, being silly sometimes helps us through the day. We laugh when we can because sometimes the tears flow, too. My husband was dx June, 2008. He was teaching Math at a local comm college and couldn't get his words out. He knew what he wanted to say and put on the board, just couldn't get it out. We became aware of fatigue about 3 years ago, then the voice change, noticed fasics, changes in behavior due to the FTD, peg, bi-pap, and cough assistn May, 2009, decrease in communication, December 2009, walker and becoming more dependent on me to change his clothes and total care. When he aspirated in March this year he could still walk with his walker, but since we came out of the hospital, he hasn't been able to. His diaphram is also just about gone and went on a vent in the hospital. He can still use his left hand and can move his left leg some. He is totally dependent now. Take care.....

Don't even consider it, Jeff. I'd be lost without your sweetness.
