Dana, My heart aches for you. I understand what you are experiencing and your husband's withdrawal. Mine did the same thing when he learned he was dying from radiation treatment to stop a bleed in his head. We both grieved differently. Men, I think, tend to withdraw, and women want to talk and feel emotion. It was a rough couple of months until we saw a therapist and he got some anti-depressant meds, and I started a Rx of Paxil for anxiety. Ahhh, the marvels of modern drugs!! :) I don't know about your ALS clinic but I started going to the one near here in January and asked to talk to a therapist because I knew that I needed to talk about my feelings to someone who didn't love me - I don't want to hurt my family. You might check at the ALS clinic in your area for support. Hugs to you my new friend. Diane

Dana! I see the sign to Freedom every time i go down and visit my mom and make a joke with my husband about turning off there. (My mom is in Monterey and i live up in Boulder Creek. ) I'm so sorry about your husband and i'm completely awe struck with what a beautiful family you have. I think watsonville is the closest ALS support group near us.. so who knows! You might see me there sometime!
