I'm a PAL diagnosed over a year and a half ago. My symptoms have gotten much worse during the last few months. This week I feel flu- like all over and my neck feels like it's circled by a tight band. Anyone else feel these symptoms? I'm wondering if I'm near the end of this ALS nightmare. Sorry to be so negative but I'm exhausted

Re: Last stages?

Is there a chance that you might actually have the flu? Possibly a cold?

Why would you think that you were in the final stages of ALS?

Re: Last stages?

Sounds more like the flu to me. I'd be seeing a Doc..

AL.

Re: Last stages?

I so appreciate your response. I suppose I could have flu since I have lots lo visitors but I tend to attribute everything to ALS. And everything seems to be harder lately - talking, transferring, sleeping. I called the hospice nurse to see me tomorrow. Thank you so much.

Re: Last stages?

That's a wise decision. And I do sympathize with you concerning all the difficulties.

Re: Last stages?

I noticed you were diagnosed in 2007. That in itself cheers me up!

Re: Last stages?

Sunny also notice that our moderator Al was diagnosed in 2003--so that is something else to cheer you up. Sorry that you are struggling.

Re: Last stages?

Just jumping on the forum is also very uplifting. Ive typically just sat back and read but didn't post. . I get so self-absorbed I forget there are many out there with broad shoulders.

Re: Last stages?

ditto on your comments, Sunnyinsd.

Frankb. We have similar diagnosis dates. I think that makes us soul mates!

Re: Last stages?

Hi Sunny, A few weeks ago I started having horrible stomach cramps, high fever, distressing additional weakness (didn't think that was even possible), as no one else in the family was ill my stressed mind jumped to the cause being additional MND symptoms, even thought I knew they weren't! Day two and diarrhoeal hit and it finally occurs to me, through the stupor, that I was the only one who had eaten food at a social gathering a few days before and what I had was not fast progression and "last stages" but food poisoning. I understand how easy it is to think every issues is ALS/MND related but sometimes it's not and I hope that is true in your case too.

Re: Last stages?

Hi kiwisally! That is very reassuring. I'm wondering if mine might relate to my dex trial visit of yesterday. It's a long drive, lots of poking and prodding, and lots of talking too. Glad you've recovered from the food poisoning. Thanks for your kind reply.

Re: Last stages?

Flu symptoms are awful. Hopefully, the nurse will give you something to make you feel better soon.

Take care.

Re: Last stages?

Thanks for the warm thoughts. You must be a wonderful caregiver!
