My father died from bulbar als. He saw many physicians and I finally took him to Cleveland Clinic to confirm his diagnosis and I also took him to the University of Michigan which confirmed it. I am hoping I don't have familial als.
I have difficulty at with speech at times, bite my tongue and recently had troble with swallowing but my swallowing seems to be improving slightly after prednisone and cholchicine.
My rhematolgist believes I may have limited scleroderma. My neurologist thought my neuro exam was normal. But, you know als is tricky to diagnose.
I am biting my checks which is typical for scleroderma and my teeth hurt. I spoke with U of M and they said that is not typical for als.
May I ask if you experience painful teeth and bite your gums as I am concerned as my symptoms are so similar to my father's disease course.
Thank you
