Hi everyone, I just thought I would update you on my visit to the MND Specialist up in London. The whole experience was a good one and I have huge admiration for these tireless professionals. I think my Consultant is a brilliant man!
Anyway.... back down to earth again; he believes it is highly likely that I do have PLS, I am having repeat tests for EMG and a Lumbar Puncture. But the general feel is that it is PLS.
He has immediately started me on Riluzole. I seem to be tolerating it quite well, which is good.
They shall watch me over time and seen again in 3m, but am so much happier to have spoken about all my questions with him.
I also have a dedicated phone line and email address for any questions or concerns that come up in the future.
The likely confirmation does make me feel quite sad, but I was not surprised really. More sad, not for myself, but for my wonderful family. I have the unenviable task of trying to explain this whole thing to my daughters.
My youngest is about to have a baby, so shall wait until after he is born, as too horrid to talk about in the middle of her joyful event!
First time Granny for me:-D
Thanks to everyone who has supported me here on this forum up to this point.x
