Last weekend was not only Father's Day, but also my parents' 39th anniversary. Long time . I went over to visit to celebrate both on Sunday. I brought my parents champagne and roses, because after all they've been through, they certainly deserve acknowledgement for 39 years of marriage. I brought the roses over to the chair where my mom stays so she could smell them. I asked her how long she and dad had been married. She sighed, "Too long." And grinned. I know she has dementia, and for many years before this wasn't really aware of what was going on. So when she says something like that, it lets me know that some of her is still there. Those are the small gifts that keep me going.

I hope all of you receive those gifts, no matter how small, during your journeys as well.

Your attitude is great - and I have shared it on occasion. Today I'm overly tired-don't know why. But you are correct - I need to think about the small things and be thankful.
