I am being scheduled to have a new peg tube put in. It's called a mick-ey has anyone any experience with this type of tube.

Patrick

That's the low profile that folks have discussed here.

Hi Patrick, That is the type my husband has now. It works very well for him. Do you have a particular concern?

We had one at the first peg change. We had terrible trouble, but not because of it being a Mic-key but because the gastroenterologist was just so rough and caused stoma damage. I think he had it too tight as well.

After a few weeks our gastro came back from holidays and changed it for a Bard (only because they last longer and we knew Chris would not be likely to ever need it changed), and all problems ceased.

The Mic-key as I understand it is the most widely used button type.

Thanks for the replies mostly I was looking to see if anyone has issues with it.

Patrick

we have not Patrick. Steve has had it since September 2014 with no problems at all. I do the flushes daily and we put a can of glucerna plus down it regularly. It does still ooze a bit around it so you have to wipe gently daily but no problems. Shirts do not catch on it.
