Wellbutrin through the PEG tube?

My mom got her PEG tube placed Wednesday and we were informed that extended release meds should not go through the tube (after they are crushed the pill loses the ability to release slowly over a long period, instead you get the whole dose at one time). Is there anyone on Wellbutrin who also has a PEG tube? What do you do? One pharmacist said we could get a smaller dose and push it at shorter intervals. Then another pharmacist said just to do it anyway. ?

I would talk to whichever doctor prescribed the Wellbutrin, but my first thought is that I believe there is a non-XR version available.

Yes, there is an immediate-release form available as a generic. It is normally dosed three times a day. Get her doc to write a new rx.
