Default Encouraging Call From The VA

My phone rang this morning and the caller ID read, "U.S. Government" so I picked up on it (yep, I screen my calls every now and again...). The voice on the other end was a female social worker from the V.A. that handles spinal cord, ALS, PLS and other debilitating cases. I had just finished buttering my toast and put eating it on hold while speaking with this very pleasant woman.

She asked if I had submitted paperwork claiming service connection and I told her no because in my case, it probably would not apply (I've been retired too long in my thinking). The lady said she had been conferring with one of her associates regarding me and they are both in agreement for me to get my name in the works. There is the understanding that PLS sometimes winds up becoming UMN dominant ALS (which would automatically become service connected).

This was very nice for the V.A. to initiate this call. Someone out there cares!

Did she happen to mention that she has been arrested numerous times for stalking Gumby ?

HA!

Actually , it does feel good when something comes you way without having to fight for it.

Zaphoon,
I had heard that, but wow they actually called you. Good news.. I would love to see you get the service connection disability. I would love you to be able to have someone like you have something like this happen. I would hope this would help you feel a little more secure with the great benefit and such. I think you sure deserve the service benefit, you are a smart, caring, and kind, not to mention witty friend to so many of us.

PZ, a vet is a vet. Doesn't matter how long you've been retired! It was nice to read something nice had happened for you.

Great news! My dad has had amazing experiences with the PVA. They've gone to bat for him a few times for equipment or benefit needs. He's long retired from the army. He's a bit overwhelmed at the appreciation folks at the VA have expressed.

I hope all goes your way!

Thumbs up Re: Encouraging Call From The VA

My last service date was around August 1967 and I still qualified. They go back all the way to the Vietnam war. I think they put something in all those shots they gave us. LOL
Thanks to Zen Archer and his advice I got my 100% service connected, about 6 months ago now.
If you have any questions ask Zen, I understand he wrote the guidelines for the VA.

You are brave...If I saw " U.S. Government on the I.D. - it would have went to voice mail.....LOL

That really is great that they called. You deserve all to be taken care of properly. You took care of us when you served your country....
