My grandfather was diagnosed with atypical ALS (proximal) because it started in both his shoulders at the same time, and progressed equally in both shoulders, and then to his legs and ultimately to his lungs. Has anyone else been diagnosed with atypical ALS, and if so, did it start in the shoulders? Forgive me for asking this ? but if it starts in your shoulder does that paralyze the entire arms? Thank you.
