I wanted to thank the members of this group for the valuable information on this board. It definately helped me ask more intelligent questions as I went through recent exams. Now at 43 years old, I've struggled with an aggressive case of anklyosing spondylitis for about 10 years, so I hoped my recent problems might be related to nerve compression, or drug interactions from the numerous pain and immune suppresant drugs. MRIs and bloodwork ruled this out. I also suffered significant leg weakness a few years ago, and was able to get the medical school/hospital records to my current neuromuscular specialist. After numerous studies related to recent left arm weakness, he feels that primary lateral schlerosis is the likely cause, although he wants to follow up with monthly checkups and emg's for a while.

Thanks again for the valuable resource.

Keane,

I wish you'd gotten better news! Was MMN ruled out as well?

How are you and your wife coping with this?

Keane,

You've really had a go of it and I feel for you. I hope you are able to get all of the support you need through local agencies.

As far as your kind comments about the wealth of information and support provided by members of this forum, I'd like to echo your appreciation as well.

Thank you. My wife and I are coping very well. She is a hospice nurse and initially feared the worst. She also has lost her mother to cancer, and her uncle to ALS in the last few years. We've gained a new perspective on the importance of making the most of the coming years.
