Hello all,

My brother was recently diagnosed with ALS but still thinks he just has a pinched nerve in his back. He saw the surgeon today that did the muscle biopsy to tell him that he thought he was full of bull. According to my brother the doctor said something to him about his enzyme levels being very high....in the thousands. My brother has always been a bit slow and it is hard for me to know what is happening by listening to him tell me what he remembers about what the doctors are telling him. I am hoping that one of you can help me to understand.....what enzymes the doctor may have been talking about and what this means........or anything else that may clarify what is happening for me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tara

Hi Tara. They probably meant his CK levels were high which can come from muscle wasting or atrophy which is usually present in ALS.
