RILUZOLE and fatigue.

I have been taking riluzole for about six weeks. During this 6 weeks, I have been more fatigued than I ever was in the past. Is it possible the riluzole is causing the fatigue.?

Anything is possible. The problem of course with ALS is differentiating side effects from progression, stress etc.

Has it affected your appetite? Is your stomach upset? Have you had follow up liver tests?

It doesn’t have that effect on me that I can tell

Consider going off the Riluzole for 2-3 weeks to see if your energy rebounds.

As Nikki mentioned, the med can cause fatigue, but so can a host of other factors.

I thought it was causing my fatigue so I went off of it for a week. No change in fatigue level so I started taking it again.

Thank you all for your input. I guess I'll keep taking the riluzole. My fatigue seems extreme at times, though.
