This is definitely something to think about and put in an advanced directive. In general, the likelihood of surviving a cardiac arrest (requiring resuscitation) is very low in people who have a chronic terminal underlying condition such as cancer or ALS. If a PALS has a cardiac arrest, it is likely to be secondary to respiratory failure. The likelihood of coming back from that is very slim. You have to consider what the new baseline and quality of life would be following cardiac arrest, with cardiac impairment, broken ribs, and all. It’s a personal decision, and some may want to go for it, by my personal very strong opinion is NO.
