gone into hospital now is this the end?

Hi my exboyfriend has had als for a year he had been in hospital before as went blue when sleeping then he came home. Now he had to call the ambulance again as thought he had a cold and they had to put him on ventialtors, intravenous food as cannot eat, cannot breathe or move. I am just wondering if this is the end now or can he come out of it its been about a week and a half since he went in do colds last a longer time with als sufferers? I am just hoping he can come out of it and come home to ayahuasca treatment. Or am I getting my hopes to high? Is this the end? Please someone help me if anyone knows about this thanks.
