I have just learnt that my younger brother has Parkinson's, I was diagnosed with Als in November.Could this be a genetic situation.

I don't know of any definite link. However, some people with FALS ( definite positive gene, multiple relatives) report relatives with PD which might be significant or coincidence

A relative of mine was misdiagnosed with PD and was later found to have PSP instead. PSP is a rare manifestation of my genetic defect C9 orf72. I would at least ask

My brother has Lupus and my father had RA. I have Hashimoto's (autoimmune disease of the thyroid) and fibromyalgia (so they say).

Who knows? I've thought about taking some oral steroids to see if they can address the horrible pain I'm having.

I will try to find the article I read about tjis topic. I asked because my husbands family had parkinsons in both paternal grandparents who were first cousins.
