I am new to this. My sister was diagnosed with ALS November 2014. She has the bulbar type. Her first symptom was tiredness, then her speech was slurred and now she has no speech at all.

Is there any research in New Zealand that she could be a part of? Her anywhere in the world for that matter.

I feel helpless and am at loss to know what to do to support her.

That was meant to read or anywhere in the world she could go to be part of any research.

The trial registry for NZ and beyond is here. Thanks for wanting to be there for her. If you search here and browse, you'll find our best advice on the subject of family support, which boils down to, find out how you can help (physical labor, emotional support, research, etc.) and just do it as close to the time it's needed, as you can. Feel free to question/comment here any time.

Best,
Laurie
