Anyone familiar with the san Francisco stem cell treatment center for ALS? Rich

From their own website (my bold added):

ALS also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease is a debilitating neurologic disease that results from the destruction of upper and lower motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. ALS is associated with rapidly progressive weakness, muscle wasting, spasticity, and difficulty breathing, swallowing and speaking. There is no known cause for ALS and genetics are implicated in only 5% of cases. There is no known cure for the physical defects associated with ALS. Many investigators are looking at using the regenerative properties of cell therapy to mitigate the impact of ALS on the nervous system.

While many believe stem cell therapy may be the future for ALS treatment, at this point there is no evidence showing the right treatment has been found. Research is ongoing and you could look at trials and see if you fit the criteria to enrol in one.

You would be better, to be bluntly honest, spending money on making your home ready for a PWC, and the equipment and possibly caring help you will need, and maybe a great holiday to live the time you have the best way you can.

They have a good content writer. They take bits and pieces of what's being researched and weave them into a rationale for trusting them with your money (payment plans available, yeah, you'll need them) in exchange for completely speculative outcomes.

I stopped reading when they started touting how "noninvasive" injections into the spinal column are.

As for the testimonials they feature in lieu of science, placebo effects and the natural course of many disorders explain those.

Rich, it's an evolving area and it's always tempting to believe, but no one who's facing the ticking clock of ALS has the spare time, money and emotional investment to burn away on what's available in that setting, now.

Best,
Laurie
