But, not for me.

We are visiting my sister's in San Antonio, Texas for Thanksgiving.

This evening my wife fell and broke her wrist. The doctors have reduced the fracture and we are waiting on the post reduction xrays now.

It looks like my favorite bottle opener is out of action for 6 to 8 weeks.

Oh no poor Lori! (Sorry if I've spelt incorrectly)
I hope she recovers well.
Steve I think it's time you introduced her to "the rules"!

God bless, Janelle x

Oh bugger, hope she recovers well, now she will need some tender loving care.
Love and hugs Gem

Best wishes for a speedy recovery

Thanks everyone.

Janelle, Lori is the correct spelling.

We are back at my sister's house now. Lori is sore and we will need to see an orthopedic specialist tomorrow.

We feel fortunate the break is not worse and no other body parts were injured.

New rule: CALS should avoid falls.

Steve

How did it happen? Bummer while visiting for Thanksgiving. Must be very painful? Sorry to hear, and thinking of you both.
Charlene

Steve,
Please convey our hope that Lori feels better soon. As she heals, remind her that, in addition to not falling, CALS have another rule: don't try to do what you can't.

Best,
Laurie

Oh no!
I hope it heals fast and she can get help opening all those bottles!

I am glad I only broke a toe - the rule I learned was DON'T RUSH!

Steve, you certainly know how to get our attention!

Yes, please do share the rules with Lori, especially the ones for CALS. Maybe we need a thread listing them.

Please let us know how she's doing.

Becky

Again, thanks to everyone for your concern.

Lori is feeling better today, though we do not see the orthopedic specialist until tomorrow.

Lori is a physical therapist and spent 4 years specializing in hand and wrist rehab. She has a pretty good idea of what the recovery will be like.

The accident was kind of silly, as I suppose most are. She was helping out in the kitchen and loading the dishwasher. The dishwasher is on the opposite side of ours because my sister is left handed. When my wife turned and walked toward it, she forgot it was open and tripped over it.

She landed very hard and my initial concern was for her hip.
Fortunately, only her wrist was injured.

We are extending our trip for a few days. Fortunately, I can still drive. Two days straight of driving to get home will certainly be exciting:).

Steve

It turns out that Lori eill need surgery, which is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, pending availability of the operating room.

In the grand scheme of things, this is minor, but for us, it is problematic.

How will we get home? Who will care for her? What about my upcoming round of doctors appointments? And, most importantly, who will take care of our cat;) ?

We will figure it all out, but are in a bit of a muddle about it right now.

I am sure things will be clearer by tomorrow.

Please keep us in your prayers.

Steve

Thanks for the update Steve.
Luv and hugs Gem

oh crap, this does throw a real spanner in the works!

I hope you get some good offers of practical help, you will both need it!

Tillie said it first--crap.

This, not being able to care for Matt, is my greatest fear. I know you will work it out, but ARGH! Thank goodness you are with family and not off in the wilderness somewhere!

I hope surgery and recovery go well.
Becky

Prayers for a successful operation and swift recovery.
God bless, Janelle x
