Google's outrageous description

I'm on another ALS group on the internet and this came to our attention. Here is a picture.... If you google "What is ALS", this is what comes up. They declare it is a MANAGEABLE DISEASE, and treatment can help! Who are these morons at google? There is an option to respond if you feel so inclined. I was outraged as were many others and I sent my response. What do you all think?

From the manageable label. From the medications listed that do not include nuedexta to the symptom list....

What you have to remember is that google is not a person or even persons, it is hundreds of thousands of computers working together as though they are one.

Search results are collated based on previous searches you have done, so people receive different results.

I just did the same search and this is what I got.

Really google only collates information on web sites, people think google knows the answers, or holds information, it doesn't, it simply collates information and serves results that may or may not match your search.

My result showed at the top that it is indeed fatal.

If anyone wants to complain, it's not google at fault, it's the website saying this that holds the crap and should be complained to.

Yes, whomever allows this stuff to be on a website should be shot.
I will have to show my doctor. He will think that's funny. He's such a gem. Being a General Practitioner, he admitted to me today that I probably know more about Mills than him...I obviously do so much more searching than him though!

Nikki did you mean you couldn't get the page to come up on a google search?

Nikki google runs a long string of complicated algorithms each time you search. Part of the criteria in the algorithm is linked to prior searches that have been done either on the computer you are using or through your google log in. I'm always logged in to google on my computer as I use g+ youtube and gmail. So when I search there is all kinds of information about prior search results that affect what results I get.

If you never log into any of the google services it is the ip of the computer you use that google uses.

I'm teaching in a classroom today and out of interest I'm going to try doing the same search. Using a classroom computer becomes interesting as I have no idea what kind of searching people have done there previously.

It's one of the reasons the twitchers become so convinced they have ALS. The more they search and click on links to quack websites, the more of these kinds of sites they will get fed to them as they are kind of telling google that these are the kind of results they are looking for.
