SSDI and SSI question

When do they count your disability as started? At the onset or at diagnosis. And what sort of paper work from the dr. Should I ask for?

I think it is diagnosis--your doctor should write a letter stating the diagnosis and prognosis. look on the SSA.gov website for more info on what you will need.

It's your diagnosis date. There is a sticky that has information about this at the top of this subforum. I didn't need any document from doctor, filled out all online and ss will check to verify.
