I haven't read a lot on it yet, but does anyone here avoid MSG because of the glumate which I understand ALS patients can have high levels of?

We avoid it because it triggers my migraines and my son has a lot of food allergies so we dont eat hardly any processed food

I avoid it. Supposedly the 'Chinese food syndrome' has been disproved but it just seems good sense to limit the 'stuff' that's killing our neurons.

I was also avoiding foods that contained glutamic acid or 'yeast extract'. But you could easily starve if you avoid those things...

I know, it's in so many things. I have food allergies myself
And try to avoid it as well as gluten. Just wondered if it would make a difference once you're diagnosed.

We didn't avoid any foods, and enjoyed eating everything we wanted.

My PALS (who was very well informed about ALS) figured she was going to enjoy herself on her way out.

Agree with your attitude Atsugi!

we didn't avoid anything that Chris could manage or enjoy either

Steve basically eats whatever sounds good. We just have lots of food issues in our house for various reasons!
