Hi,
I'm considering purchasing a speech-generating device for a relative, but have no idea which one to choose and am hoping somebody here can help me decide.
The person in question is almost completely incapable of verbal communication, but her comprehension skills are 100%. She has almost no motor skills in one of her arms/hands, so it must be possible to operate the device with one hand.
Also, she doesn't have any experience with computers, so the device would need to be very simple to use. Also, the device would need to be fairly robust, e.g. could survive being dropped on the floor.
I was originally considering an iPad with a speech-generating application, but I think this would be too fragile, and difficult for her to use.
If someone could recommend a suitable device, it would be much appreciated.
