In two days I have an appointment at the ALS clinic to have a EMG on my diaphragm. I am less than enthusiastic about having this procedure....but my doc seems to think that it is needed.
From all my research this is fairly current technology, only a few years old. They will determine if I am a good candidate for a pacemaker in my diaphragm. They say if you have it done early in your progression that it will affect your decline a bit.
This procedure involves placing several needles in between your ribs and into your diaphragm muscle, using ultrasound imaging to guide the needles.
I am dreading this and would rather have my manberries dragged through hot tar and broken glass than have this procedure.
If any of you have had this done, please chime in and tell me your experience....
