I have seen FVC popping up all over the place. It always seems to be in the form of a percentage.

My spirometry test reported an FVC of 5.01. Is the percentage that I see reported a percentage of normal?

Thanks

The 2 things I see in percentages mostly are the fev1/fvc ratio and fev1 predicted value the latter is based on patient size age and sex. That fvc sounds pretty decent although don't know your age or size. Hope this helps

The doc said that I have 93% predicted.
The 5.01 and the 93% are from exhaling and the inhaling was >60

5.01 is the amount of air exhaled in liters, 93% is your number divided by the normal value for someone at your weight and height. So doing "reverse math" based on the numbers, 5.38 L would give you 100%. Anything above 80% is considered in the normal range.

Thanks!

I really appreciate the simple answer :)
