Hi,sorry this is my first post here, I been reading the forums for the past 6 months and I'm currently waiting diagnose. I live in Orlando FL and currently getting tested at Tampa USF with Dr Vu.past 6-7 months
Is there a good neuro in Orlando that I can go to?
I been having symptoms for the last 11 months, this is my 3rd neurologist and no clear diagnose.
Please help, thanks
35 year old male.

Try the Mayo ALS clinic in Jacksonville, FL. Director is Dr. Boylan. They specialize in all aspects of ALS. You may need a referral and appointments take a while. But they would be thorough, they are experts in the field of ALS. Hope and pray your diagnosis will not be ALS. Good luck!

Hi,

I believe user "ECpara" made a very good suggestion to you.

There are other forum members who are PALS/CALS who live near Orlando area like "Barbie" (CALS) and "Notme" (PALS) [although "Notme" hasn't been to the forums for a while] who could give you suggestions of Neuros in that city.

There is not an ALS specialist in Orlando. Not that I have ever heard of. I agree with ECpara, Dr. Boylan at Mayo in Jax is the best --we were confirmed there. we attend the suncoast in Tampa now because they are closer. But if you are already at USF in Tampa--they should be able to diagnosis you because they are definitely experts!

Thanks for you're time and reply.
I went to USF ALS Clinic because they were referred to me by the ALS association in Orlando.
Dr Vu diagnosed me with some kind of mild neuropathy,...he's performed at least 4 EMG's trough 6-7 months and he says there is no evidence of ALS
I read that he is a professor of EMG tests at USF Tampa and the director of the AlS clinic.
3 MRI's brain and spine with and without contrast...normal
They have done the needles and the electro shocks too don't know the name sorry...normal
Weak or slow reflexes
Every blood work is normal and there's been a lot. Metals, poisoning, thyroid, etc, etc
But I feel I'm getting weaker every month and the fatigue, trouble swallowing, breathing ''short breath'' ohhh man and the twitching is getting me crazy.
I don't like to sound rude or to disrespect DR. Vu but I would like to get another opinion
I hope I'm not getting hypochondriac or paranoid
what do you guys recommend?
Thanks and God bless

Thanks for you're time,
I got referred to the Tampa USF ALS clinic by the ALS association, its about an hour twentie minutes time from home
Currently diagnosed with neuropathy, after 4 EMG's ,a bunch of MRI's ,blood work check ups but I'm feeling weaker each month.
Twitching all over ,fatigue ,trouble swallowing, breathing, Insomnia, muscle and joint pain and ALOT off TREMORS entire body,
Pain on my legs, shoulders, neck and feelling weak when walking.
I have an appointment on the 19th of this month, after that I'm go a try Jacksonville mayo clinic.

Any help would be appreciated thanks a lot and God bless.
Sorry if I sounded rude, I'm not trying to be disrespectfull to the Dr or you guys

so what do 4 emg's disclose. neuropathy can cause a lot of grief in addition to als i have neuopathy in both feet

look up 'IDIOPATHIC PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY" on internet and see if this is close to your symptoms. have no idea if there is a test for this or just clinic observation, might ask neuro on nect visit

@Pearshoot:

Sorry for hijacking this thread but, you mention you have Neuropathy running alongside with ALS, right?
What do you feel?
Any supplementation or medication you are taking for this Neuropathy?
I ask because I have this problem too and, don't know how to keep it under control.

Thank you.

Dr said that there was no evidence of ALS on any of them, but he can't say what's causing me neuropathy and why is it progressing.
