-Have you tried reaching out to Mark Harrington of TAG? He's continued doing AIDS advocacy work all these years and knows the ins and outs of the FDA/Big Pharma/NIH still. Whereas I left ACT UP at the end of 1991.

Unfortunately, the return on successful cancer drugs is enormously greater than the return would be on a successful ALS medication. The headline after an ALS breakthrough drug would likely read something like:

Pfizer ALS drug wins special status; shares barely move.
