Cut From Hospice--Any Ideas?

We just received our 2 month review and will be dismissed from hospice at the first of the month. Hopefully we can get on a visiting Dr. program that hospice refers. Can I work with another hospice before they cut us. To me and my pals we need them now more than any other time. Her condition continues to worsen.

That is a horrible dilemma and I'm sorry that you are going through this. I would check with your doctor, clinic or ALS support group for options.

my understanding is that one can stay on hospice as long as the condition continues to deteriorate. if it plateaus, they will discontinue. check w/ you doc. maybe they can help. i know someone who was on hospice 16 mo and then came off due to plateauing. she was diagnsed 7 yrs ago.

I would check with other hospices in the area. Also...check with your closest ALSA, they will know which hospices are most likely to work well for an ALS family.
